ACTRESS Bella Astillah has quit filming Malay drama Terjerat, just days after her husband, Singaporean actor Aliff Aziz, was allegedly caught for khalwat (close proximity) with her co-star Ruhainies at a luxury condominium in Kuala Lumpur, reported Harian Metro.

She said the decision was made after a meeting with the drama producer Datuk Seri Jaspal Singh on Monday.

The 30-year-old thanked the drama team for their cooperation in a post on Instagram.

In the series, Bella plays the role of a homewrecker to her sister, who is played by Ruhainies.

On Tuesday, producer Datuk A. Aida blacklisted Ruhainies from her future productions following the khalwat incident that went viral on social media.

> Actress Anna Jobling has turned down all acting offers throughout Ramadan to spend time with her family, Berita Harian reported.

The 24-year-old said in the past two years, she was tied up with work commitments during the fasting month.

However, Jobling said she would still attend events and meetings.“I do not accept any acting offers because I want to rest. Sometimes it is necessary to take a break.

“This year, I want to dedicate more time to my family. I want to help my mother cook,” she added.

> Berita Harian reported that brief pop phenomenon Mawi no longer depends on singing as his main source of income.

The artiste, whose real name is Asmawi Ani, said aside from singing and working as a radio presenter, he has also ventured into business due to the encouragement of his wife Nora’ Asikin Rahmat.

“I do whatever I can. My wife is the type who cannot sit still. She is the one who encouraged me to get into business and always reminds me that a career in the arts industry does not last long,” he said.

Mawi, however, said he is grateful that he had received more offers to sing at weddings than on television.“I disagree that singing at weddings lowers my dignity.

“After coming out of Akademi Fantasia, there were always such offers,” said Mawi, who was crowned winner of the reality show’s third season.
