KUALA LUMPUR: Oil and Gas Asia (OGA) 2024, the largest trade show for the oil, gas, energy and petrochemical engineering industry in Southeast Asia, is projected to draw almost 500 exhibitors from 100 countries, inclusive of 10 international pavilions.

OGA 2024 organiser Informa Markets Malaysia’s country general manager Gerard Leeuwenburg said over 25,000 attendees are expected to attend the three-day event from Sept 25 to 27, 2024, to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

"Last year we managed to get close to 430 exhibitors and we are certain that we are going to surpass the number that we had last year,” he told a media briefing on the event here today.

OGA 2023 managed to record about RM211 million potential trade value.

Leeuwenburg also projected the potential trade value for the 2024 edition would at least mirror that of the 2023 initial target, amounting to RM200 million.

OGA 2024 is set to be the 20th edition of the event since it began in 1987 as a biennial show.

In conjunction with OGA, the Malaysian Petrochemicals Association (MPA), as the conference partner, is also coordinating the Petrochemicals Sustainability Conference (PSC) 2024 on Sept 26 to 27, 2024.

Maintaining the theme "Future Ready Petrochemicals" as in previous installations, PSC 2024 looks forward to engaging with 800 delegates, 50 speakers, and participating in over 18 sessions, including keynote and industry captain addresses, lightning presentations, roundtable discussions, debates, and case studies.

PSC organising committee chairman Akbar Thayoob said the conference aimed to facilitate meaningful discussions on transitioning to a low-carbon future and integrating green technology across the industry's supply chain.

"PSC 2024 would focus on three key points which are the decarbonisation of operations, circular economy practices and enablers supporting the transition, to support the sustainability journey.

MPA remains dedicated to advancing a sustainable petrochemical sector, emphasising our industry's role in the net-zero carbon ambition and committed to leading discussions on climate change and sustainability," he said. - Bernama
