Walk down memory lane with Malay dishes from yesteryear

Nostalgia with every bite at Amaya Food Gallery.

AMARI Kuala Lumpur is inviting diners to enjoy the nostalgic flavours of traditional Malay cuisine with its “Rentas Selera” Ramadan promotion.

The culinary team at the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant Amaya Food Gallery will be taking diners down memory lane with an array of kampung favourites.

Featured dishes include Sotong Masak Lemak Cili Api Belimbing Buluh, Wok-fried Lala with Tom Yum Paste and Lemongrass, Udang Laut Tumis Sambal Petai, Daging Gulai Kawah Hirisan Ubi Kentang and Lala Masak Cili Bawang Putih.

The outdoor stalls with eight speciality stations are not to be missed, featuring delicacies such as Melaka-style Nyonya Laksa, Penang Char Kuey Teow, satay, roti canai and murtabak.

Sup Tulang Rawan is another highlight. It is prized for the marrow contained in the beef bones, which is stewed in a spicy soup stock.

End the meal on a sweet note with a variety of assorted Malay desserts such as kuih lapis, pulut panggang, kuih seri muka, onde-onde, kuih jagung, kuih bakar, ang koo, dodol durian, bubur pulut hitam and bubur kacang merah as well as ice cream.

A selection of refreshing and hot drinks are also available, such as sirap bandung, leng chee kang, soya bean, teh tarik and kopi tarik.

The hotel’s executive chef Jong Zhi Sheng said the dining experience would not be complete without the goreng-goreng station where diners could enjoy assorted fried treats such as pisang goreng, keropok lekor, keledek goreng and cempedak goreng.

He also recommends the Air Batu Campur (ABC) Sabah, which is served with an array of condiments such as red bean, corn, peanut, sago, cincau, agar-agar, cendol and gula melaka.

The buffet dinner is available until April 5, from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.

It is priced at RM150+ per adult and RM90+ per child.

Amari Kuala Lumpur is located at Jalan Bangsar, in the heart of KL Eco City.
